Twitch replaced Metallica’s BlizzCon show with hilarious non-heavy metal tunes

While Metallica fans watched a special performance by the band at the end of the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2021, those watching on the official Twitch Gaming channel were presented with the show with the most non-heavy metal music imaginable to avoid a DMCA Shortly after Metallica started playing, Twitch switched to royalty-free music to avoid DMCA removal, which predictably led to some hilarious moments that were captured by people like @Slasher on twitter.

It appears that Twitch did not obtain the appropriate rights to allow the song to be played on his channel. Fortunately, the show and its music played as expected on other Twitch channels, such as Blizzard’s own and BlizzCon’s official YouTube live stream.

DMCA removals have been a big problem for Twitch streamers recently, and Twitch even admitted that he handled it badly and promised that better tools are on the way.
