Describing his actions as “despicable”, Morgan told reporters outside his London home: “I don’t believe in almost anything that comes out of your mouth.”
“If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that false diatribe she made in that interview, so be it,” he added.
The 55-year-old left ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (March 9) after her longstanding criticism of Meghan intensified following her interview with Winfrey, in which she revealed that she felt suicidal while living like royalty in Britain.

[INTERPOSING VOICES]
– Can we take a picture of you without your daughter, unless you give permission?
PIERS MORGAN: No, I believe in freedom of expression. I believe in the right to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, they have every right. I don’t believe in almost anything that comes out of your mouth.
I think the damage she did to the British monarchy and the queen at the moment when Prince Philip is in the hospital is enormous and downright negligible. So, if I have to fall for my sword for expressing an honest opinion about Meghan Markle and that false diatribe that she did in that interview, so be it.
– You are in a position to leave. High City wanted you out.
PIERS MORGAN: Yes, no, everything is very friendly. I think the guy likes [INAUDIBLE] and we agree to disagree.
