Michael van der Veen, a lawyer who represented former President Trump in his second impeachment trial, protested the media in an interview with CBS News after Trump was acquitted.

Van der Veen accused prosecutors baselessly of tampering with the evidence on impeachment during the January 6 Capitol riot. “As they did not do any investigation, they changed the evidence. It is absolutely shocking,” he told CBS on Saturday.

Interviewer Lana Zak tried to clarify Van der Veen’s misleading comments, asking if he was referring to the “selective edition” of the images of the riot and a tweet that the Trump team claimed was shown during the trial that was allegedly labeled with the wrong year. (The tweet in question was not actually shown during the trial.) “Is that the adulterated evidence that you are talking about?” Asked Zak.

But Van der Veen then started to complain about the media more generally. “The media is trying to divide this country,” he said. “You are thirsty for blood for assessments,” he continued, calling the questions “arm” with “sloped cover”. He removed the microphone and left the camera.

The Trump administration is widely known for its anti-media rhetoric and complaints against journalists and the media, labeling the unfavorable coverage as “fake news”. Now, some sources say Trump has plans to start his own digital media network to compete with Fox News.
