President Donald Trump is passing on to Republican Party supporters and donors who want to raise $ 2 billion for a presidential library and museum, according to The Washington Post.
No official announcement has been made, but the presidential library “probably” is in Florida, home to the outgoing president’s Mar-a-Lago resort and the most likely political base for his eldest daughter and son, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr.
The Post reported that Trump wants Dan Scavino, director of social media and deputy head of communications at the White House, to lead the ambitious effort. The president is believed to be able to raise the necessary funds through donations of small dollars from his political base.
The reported target is much higher than the price of other presidential libraries. Former President George W. Bush raised just over $ 500 million for his “Presidential Center” in Dallas, which must be the same amount it would cost to build the library of former President Barack Obama himself in Chicago.
However, after the January 6 Capitol riots, where five people were killed, several former Trump advisers are skeptical of Trump’s expensive proposal. After being impeached a second time, with 10 Republican Party members voting for his dismissal, Trump is mired in a relentless position.

“I thought to myself, what is this alternative fantasy life that you are living?” a Trump fundraiser told The Post. “I have no idea where they think they will get that money from. Anyone who gives it to him will be radioactive.”
When asked about fundraising for the library, another donor Trump called the effort “insane”, saying that, “except for the freaks, everyone is running into the mountains,” according to the Post.
In the wake of the riots, the Republican Party’s fundraising suffered a blow. Senators Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas, who sought to reverse the results of the 2020 elections, saw their political and 2024 presidential capitals turn into a tank.
Trump himself will leave the White House for Florida before President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20, avoiding the normal transfer of power between U.S. presidents.
