Former President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he wants his supporters to take the “great” COVID-19 vaccines that were developed during his administration.
Trump said in an interview with Fox News with Maria Bartiromo that he was not satisfied with the fact that many Republicans say they do not want to receive the photos.
“I would and would recommend it to many people who don’t want to get it. And many of these people voted for me, frankly, ”said Trump.
“We have our freedoms and we have to live for it and I agree with that too. But it is a great vaccine, it is a safe vaccine and it works. ”
A poll released last week by NPR, PBS and Marist found that 41 percent of Republicans do not plan to get the vaccine, against 34 percent of independents and 11 percent of Democrats.
President Biden, who said last week that there will be enough vaccine supply for all Americans to apply for vaccines in May, scoffed on Monday about Trump’s potential influence on his supporters.
Biden, who rarely mentions Trump by name, said that doctors and local religious leaders have greater influence among “MAGA people”.
“I discussed this with my team and they said that what has more impact than anything Trump would say to the MAGA people is what the local doctor, the local preacher, what the local people in the community say,” said Biden.
Trump as president led Operation Warp Speed federal by pouring billions into coronavirus vaccine research and development and was angered by Biden’s credit claims for accelerating distribution. The first two vaccines, from Pfizer and Moderna, were approved while Trump was president.
“I wouldn’t say the FDA loves me, but I pushed them really, really – harder than ever,” Trump said on Fox News.
“What I asked the FDA to do – it would have happened in many, many years from now, if we didn’t – if I hadn’t been involved and we hadn’t been involved.”
