Trump promises “orderly” transition after turmoil and Biden earns certification

“Although I totally disagree with the outcome of the election and the facts confirm it, there will be an orderly transition on January 20,” Trump said in the statement, repeating false statements he made in the past two months. “I always said that we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it is only the beginning of our struggle to make America Great Again.”

Trump, who refused to grant the election, had instigated on Wednesday supporters who would later invade the United States Capitol in an attempt to prevent lawmakers from counting electoral votes. The riot left four people dead – one woman was shot and three others went through medical emergencies, according to the police – and left some in Trump’s office holding preliminary talks about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, according to a well placed GOP Source.

After a speech full of lies and misrepresentations that infuriated the crowd, Trump returned to the White House to watch a violent boom from his constant disclosure of disinformation about the electoral process. The crowd stormed the Capitol, stormed the House and Senate floor, and Trump supporters could be seen relaxing in the office of Mayor Nancy Pelosi.

A woman was shot and killed in chaos. Police have not yet released further details about his death.

Both Republicans and Democrats condemned protesters for violating the United States Capitol, and several lawmakers blamed Trump for the violence that erupted and delayed Biden’s victory for several hours.

In comments on Wednesday afternoon, Biden asked Trump to appear on national television “to fulfill his oath and defend the constitution and demand an end to this siege.”

On Wednesday night, not discouraged by the violence and threats, lawmakers returned to the House to continue counting the votes.

Trump did not say in his statement whether he plans to attend the inauguration of Biden and elected vice president Kamala Harris on January 20.

This is a last-minute story and will be updated.
