Trump Plaza Implosion in Atlantic City: Watch Live Now

The former Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, closed in 2014 and empty since then, is scheduled to be demolished at around 9 am on Wednesday, February 17.

Unlike the 2007 Sands casino implosion – which took place on a Friday night and featured fireworks and drew 100,000 spectators – officials hope to limit the size of the crowd and keep those who come to watch socially distant.

Atlantic City is broadcasting the implosion live on its website and Facebook page.

NJ Advance Media providing live implosion on Facebook, viewing from OneAtlantic, a pier that extends over the ocean and is just north of Trump Plaza. Bidders who have paid for premium seats are also seeing the implosion from within OneAtlantic.

Trump Plaza has been closed since 2014, when more than 1,100 people went out of work. Ichan Enterprises took ownership of the property in 2016.

Mayor Marty Small set his government’s goal in 2020 to demolish the building – which had pieces of its facade falling onto the boardwalk after a storm – which he called “an embarrassment”.

“It is a plague on our horizon and that is the biggest unpleasant thing in the city,” he said.
