Donald Trump comes out – SAG!
He still can’t tweet yet, but the former president was quick to send a sharp resignation letter to a union representing actors, broadcasters and performers after the group threatened to remove him.
Trump wrote the harsh note on Thursday saying he was leaving SAG-AFTRA after the union took steps to potentially revoke its membership by inciting the January 6 deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“Who cares!” Trump wrote to SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, who published the missive shortly after receiving it.
“Although I am not familiar with your work, I am very proud of my work in films like Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: money never sleeps; and television shows, including The New Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Live night, and of course, one of the most successful programs in television history, The Apprentice – to name just a few! “Trump wrote.
Trump, who until January 20 was the president of the United States, then boasted that “I also helped the cable news business a lot (considered a dying platform with not much time until I got involved in politics), and created thousands of jobs on networks like MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others. “
Trump’s letter intentionally misspelled the left MSNBC’s spelling to link it to the Democratic National Committee.

Carteris, a former “Beverly Hills 90210” star, started charges last month against Trump before the union’s national council, which found a likely cause that he violated the organization’s constitution.
Carteris accused Trump of triggering the Capitol mutiny and of sustaining a disinformation campaign that both discredited and threatened the security of journalists, “many of whom are members of SAG-AFTRA,” the group noted in a statement.
Trump faced possible penalties ranging from reprimand to expulsion if found guilty by the union’s Disciplinary Committee.
This is a small punishment compared to the possible lifetime ban Trump faces from the federal post – including the presidency – in his second Senate impeachment trial.
As in union charges, Trump is charged in the Senate case to incite the riot, in which thousands of his supporters stormed the halls of Congress in a violent, but failed, effort to overthrow President Joe Biden’s election. Five people died in the riot, including a Capitol policeman beaten to death by the crowd.
In his offensive letter to Carteris, Trump called the union’s action against him “his blatant attempt at media attention to divert attention from his dismal union history.”
“Your organization has done little for its members and nothing for me – other than charging fees and promoting dangerous non-American ideas and policies – as is evident from its mass unemployment rates and lawsuits from famous actors, who even shot a video asking ‘ Why isn’t the union fighting for me? ‘”Wrote Trump.
“These, however, are policy failures. His disciplinary failures are even more striking, ”he added.
“I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me.”
After receiving his letter, SAG-AFTRA gave a two-word response to Trump.
“Thank you,” wrote the group.
Trump’s letter is one of his longest statements in weeks.
Twitter – which Trump obsessively used to communicate with supporters, define US policy and launch insults against people and companies this drew his ire – permanently banned him last month “due to the risk of further incitement to violence,” the company said.
Trump has been a member of the actors’ union since 1989 and has appeared as himself in several films. His resignation does not prevent him from participating in future film or TV projects.
Several people in show business said that Trump would require cameos in films that showcase his properties.
Director Adam McKay in 2018 said he filmed a cameo from Trump for his 2010 comedy “The Other Guys” because it featured Trump Tower.
McKay said he cut the Trump scene because it was “too tacky”.
Actors Matt Damon and Chris O’Donnell have already shared anecdotes about a similar quid pro quo to Trump.
Last month, Macaulay Culkin, the star of “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”, tweeted “Bravo” when a fan of the film posted an edited version of the Culkin scene at the Plaza Hotel where his character, Kevin, asks Trump for instructions on how to get to the lobby.
The version posted on Twitter edited Trump’s image.
