Thirty-four percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job as president, found a Gallup poll published on Monday, representing the lowest approval rating he has had since taking office.

Trump’s approval rating of 41 percent over his four years in office is four points lower than that of any of his predecessors in the White House in the age of opinion polls, the agency said.

A pass rate of 34% is one point below its previous lowest individual rating, which occurred on several occasions in 2017.

Trump is the first president to fail to break a 50 percent approval rating at any time since Gallup began measuring approval for the presidential post in 1938.

An ABC News / Ipsos poll released on Sunday revealed that most Americans said they believed Trump should be removed from office.

The low approval rating for Trump’s work came less than two weeks after the Capitol was invaded by a crowd of his supporters contesting the results of the presidential election.

The president repeatedly reiterated the notion that the election was stolen from him, until and after Congress met to officially count the votes of the Electoral College that claimed Biden as the winner. The count was interrupted by protesters who invaded the Capitol, forcing the House and the Senate to back down for hours before meeting again that night.

The results of the Gallup survey are based on telephone interviews between 4 and 15 January, starting two days before the riot. The sampling error margin is 4 percentage points.
