White House officials are planning a farewell ceremony for Donald Trump when he last left Washington on Wednesday morning as president, according to a copy of the invitation seen by Bloomberg News.

The event is scheduled for 8 am at Andrews Joint Base, just outside the nation’s capital, where the outgoing president will board Air Force One for Florida. Invitations were sent to supporters, including former government officials and other supporters, asking them to arrive at 7:15 am

Trump decided to skip the inauguration of his successor, Joe Biden, on January 20, at the United States Capitol, becoming the first living president of the United States in more than a century to decide not to attend the regular exchange of power. Instead, Trump will be at his resort in Mar-a-Lago, as the new president will take office at noon on that day.

A White House spokesman declined to comment.

Some White House advisers will be in Gramado Sul for the presidential helicopter to take off with Trump on board, although the audience is limited. Strict security measures throughout central Washington and especially close to the White House will make it very difficult for visitors from outside to access the campus.

Trump’s decision not to attend the inauguration was announced on January 8 by the president, two days after a crowd of his supporters ransacked the Capitol in a riot that left five people dead. An unprecedented security cordon now surrounds the heart of the country’s capital after the attack.
