Raffensperger oversaw three votes, confirming Joe Biden’s victory over Trump in Georgia, the first for a Democratic presidential candidate since 1992.
Hice strongly supported Trump’s election challenges in Georgia, despite any evidence of widespread fraud. In January, Hice proudly voted against certifying the 2020 election and later blaming Raffensperger for the loss of Trump, although the Georgia Secretary of State only reaffirmed the vote count.
“I guarantee you, Georgia is not blue,” said Hice at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February. “What happened in the last elections was only because of a horrible Secretary of State and the horrible decisions he made.”
In December, Hice falsely said on Fox News radio that “there were so many credible charges of fraud” and called Raffensperger’s performance at work “nothing shy of embarrassing and totally wrong”.
“I’m telling you, Georgia’s secretary of state, Raffensperger, must be among the worst in the country,” said Hice.
Raffensperger’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
