A South Carolina truck driver beat and threatened to kill a Daytona Beach woman at a motel where he met her for sex after contacting her on a dating app, police said.

The trailer driver, Brian Summerson, 25, of Dillon, South Carolina, was arrested Monday morning and charged with physical assault, personal injury, false imprisonment and witnessing / depriving a 9-1 call -1. Summerson was held at Volusia County Jail on Tuesday without bail.

An arrest report shows that police were called to a Daytona Beach motel by an anonymous person who heard a woman screaming and kicking the walls of a neighboring room, an arrest report says. The motel’s name was taken from the police report.

Police officers who responded to the motel at 4:55 am on Monday found a half-naked woman in a room sitting on the floor next to a bed facing a window. Summerson was sitting next to her, the police said.

When the police asked what was going on, Summerson quickly replied that he was in the area looking for an ATM when he heard the woman screaming and found that she had been attacked by two suspects he saw running with her purse, a report says.

Summerson said he ran after the men but was unable to reach them. He said he saw them jump over a wall and then enter the room to comfort the victim, police said.

The investigators noted that the woman appeared nervous and intimidated, so they separated Summerson from her, a report says.

The woman then told police that early Sunday evening, she had made contact with Summerson on the Tinder dating app, and agreed to meet him in his motel room, according to a report.

After having consensual sex with Summerson, she said the suspect started to bother her. The woman told Summerson that she needed to go back to her friend’s room and he asked for a hug, investigators said.

When the woman hugged him, Summerson stood behind her and started to choke her and said he was going to kill her, the police said.

The woman said she passed out. When she regained consciousness, she said she was thrown on the floor and Summerson was punching her in the face. The woman screamed for help, kicking the walls, waiting for someone to hear her, the police said.

The victim tried to escape through a window, but Summerson grabbed her and threw her on her back. Summerson took out her cell phone to stop her from calling 9-1-1. Summerson told the woman that if she called the police, he would kill her, a report shows.
