Country star Trisha Yearwood contracted the new COVID-19 coronavirus, her husband Garth Brooks announced via Facebook on Wednesday.
Brooks, 59, and Yearwood, 56, are “currently quarantined at home after a recent positive Covid test by a member of his team,” according to “Team Garth’s” post on Wednesday night.
“Subsequent tests that they have done in the past few days have indicated that Trisha has contracted Covid, while Garth remains negative.”
“Officially,” adds Brooks, Yearwood is “diagnosed as ‘on his way out of the tunnel’ now, for which I am extremely grateful.”
The recent winter storms that covered much of the country have prevented Yearwood and Brooks from being tested for some time.
“Anyone who knows me knows that my world begins and ends with Ms. Yearwood, so she and I are going to face this together, ”said Brooks. “And whoever knows her knows that she is a fighter and has done everything right, so I know that we will be out together on the other side of this thing.”
Yearwood is “fine so far, but is dealing with the symptoms”, but Brooks adds that “the possible long-term effects on her [voice] worries me as her husband and as a fan “, and notes that” We are very lucky that she is under the greatest care in the best city to treat and heal singers ”
Yearwood and Brooks were friends and musical partners for years before the romance; when they met, they were both married to other people. After their respective divorces, they started dating in 2002, and Brooks proposed to Yearwood on stage in 2005; the couple married later that year and Yearwood became the stepmother to Brooks’ three daughters from their previous marriage
Brooks, a registered Republican, returned to the spotlight in January, when he appeared in the possession of President Biden. He will also be honored at the annual Kennedy Center Honors in May.
