Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch reversed a recent change he made to players’ movement speed when landing from a jump.
The change – which was implemented as part of the update deployed on February 4 – came as an attempt to contain the “jump”, which allows veteran players to move quickly and even take aim even after jumping.
Although the developer revealed just a day later that “would continue to monitor this change in the live environment and make further adjustment changes as needed”, earlier today he adjusted it again, this time confirming that he had “slightly reduced” the penalties.
Little more has been said, but it is probably safe to assume that the studio will continue to monitor things in an attempt to contain the behavior while keeping fans who are jumping very happy too.
A new Call of Duty game will arrive later this year, according to Activision Blizzard’s fourth quarter 2020 earnings call. Activision’s CFO, Dennis Durkin, discussed what the company has in store for the Call of Duty franchise, which has “the largest player community it has ever had to start a year” in 2021.
The Call of Duty franchise was a huge success last year or so, with the free game Call of Duty: Warzone bringing tons of new players and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War bringing back the increasingly popular zombie mode. With the integration of the two, Activision has shown that it is determined to keep Warzone a constant in the Call of Duty universe while creating new independent titles.
Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13, 2020, which is standard Call of Duty practice, so the next Call of Duty franchise title is likely to be released in a similar period of time this year – close to the holidays, for sure .
