Black Ops Cold War brought back the exclusive Black Ops 2 Express map. Let’s look at some similarities and changes.
The remastering of the Black Ops Cold War Express map is a true recreation of the classic Black Ops 2 map, loved by fans. The map remains completely untouched in the layout, with minimal overhaul to the game’s 80s theme.
The map is sure to attract the eyes of many fans of the old school of Call of Duty, and even more of the competitive electronic sports scene. With League Play coming up, now has never been a better time to play on this map.
With that said, let’s take a look at some similarities and differences.
On your first move, you’ll notice the new paint layer and color palette right away. The Express looks much brighter, with better lighting and less contrast. The scale is accurate for the original map, so you’ll feel right at home.
While the map may still look like Black Ops 2, that hasn’t stopped Treyarch from reducing the map’s technology to better suit the era. Computers are replaced with older CRT monitors and flat-screen TVs are replaced with box TVs.
The main terminal also had a small change in its color palette. We can’t help feeling that the new map has a slightly shiny feel to it with its new coat of paint. This will certainly be something that players will feel divided about. On the one hand, the lighting is dimmed, on the other hand, it is a little visually insipid compared to the classic.
Finally, we have the iconic boarding and drop-off panel at the terminal. The computerized Black Ops 2 card was replaced by a less advanced card, more suitable for the time. If you look closely, you will see that all train departures and arrivals are exactly the same as on the classic map.
Finally, we have the iconic train interior in the middle of the map. The design and lighting of Black Ops Cold War really adds extra warmth to a familiar piece of Black Ops 2.
