North Dakota state quarterback Trey Lance played a good role for NFL decision makers in his Pro Day training session on Friday.

Among those who attended were jet general manager Joe Douglas, Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith, Lions coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes, Panthers general manager Scott Fritterer and coach Matt Rhule, Washington general manager Martin Mayhew, Broncos General Manager George Paton, Bears General Manager Ryan Pace, Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock, Seahawks General Manager John Schneider and Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman.

All those GMs and coaches would not have made the trip to Fargo had Lance not been considered a prospect with a lot of potential, and Pro Day footage showed Lance making some impressive pitches. Throw measured at 6 ft-4 and 224 pounds.

In his only season as a North Dakota State holder, he had impressive statistics, including a 66.9 percent completion rate, 9.7 yards per pass, 28 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, plus 1,100 run yards and 14 touchdowns. But Lance will be questioned by some because he was a starter for just one year, because he played at the FCS level and because in the only game he played in 2020, which was created by the state of North Dakota mainly to give him one more opportunity to show what he knew how to do, he didn’t play very well.
