Trevor Rosenthal signing with Athletics after Mets flirtation

Trevor Rosenthal will not be reporting to Port St. Lucie for spring training.

The main remaining reliever in the free agent market, who was connected to Mets, will join the athletics bullpen in a $ 11 million deal for a year, according to several reports.

Rosenthal, who split last season between the Royals and the Padres, is likely to replace Liam Hendriks as the closest A’s, instead of increasing the Mets’ bullpen. The Mets kept in touch with Rosenthal recently, The Post’s Mike Puma reported on Monday, due to the fact that Seth Lugo had surgery and the club lost Justin Wilson.

Rosenthal, 30, who was the closest to the Cardinals before undergoing Tommy John’s surgery in 2017, posted an ERA of 1.90 with 11 saves last season.

Going to spring training, the Mets increased their bullpen by signing the right-handed Trevor May with a $ 15.5 million contract with the southpaw and Aaron Loup with a $ 3 million one-year contract. They also added RHP Tommy Hunter and LHP Mike Montgomery to smaller league businesses.
