Trevor Lawrence seemed impressed by Zach Wilson’s professional day

Pro-day reactions can be a bit exaggerated, either by fans or the media.

But when a fellow NFL QB candidate seems surprised by one of his competitor’s moves, it’s worth noting.

Friday was BYU’s professional day, which means that the highly praised QB Zach Wilson had the big stage of the day. And even with the breaking of a monstrous negotiation that completely changed the scenario of the 2021 draft of the NFL, Wilson found a way to steal the show.

He had a great day playing football as a whole, and there was a house full of NFL heavyweights in attendance – by our count, seven general managers, three head coaches and a lot more scouts. The capacity was 96 people (three representatives per team), and they were probably not far from that.

The best thing about Wilson’s 60-move script had to be this puppy, which is a really cute microphone drop for a final move:

Since you are not impressed by this, even if it is a release that may not happen, you know, in a real game. The point: the boy has a ridiculous talent for his arm.

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence is technically Wilson’s competition in this draft, although we all know that Lawrence is the big favorite in betting to be the first choice in the draft. But Wilson may be the second choice. Thee Jets selected there and sent a train to Provo: general manager Joe Douglas, coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.

We imagine that they were impressed. But check out Lawrence’s reaction when he saw his classmate’s impulse to roll-to-the-left-back-to-right:

Is he … getting a little nervous? After all, Lawrence is stuck after the labrum surgery and can’t play now. The most likely answer is no – this is just a good example, we suspect, of games that recognize games.
