Trello today launched a “one-time update in a decade” of its project management software, adding new visualization options and smarter cards to the platform. There are four new viewing modes for Trello panels: timeline, calendar, table and panel. They can be accessed by clicking on the “Table” tab, which now opens a drop-down menu with the different options.
The timeline makes it easy to view projects that span multiple days or phases, displaying more than two weeks at a time.

The calendar mode is exactly what it sounds like – a traditional one-month calendar with cards for the appropriate dates. Moving a card to a new day on the calendar automatically updates its due date.
The table view allows users to organize more than one table on a single page, arranged in a simple list with information that includes icons, labels, members and expiration dates.

Finally, the dashboard offers panoramic metrics, detailing your situation in Trello in pie and bar graphs.

“In the near future, you will be able to gather cards from all your team’s panels as you would with the Table, but also with Calendar, Timeline and Control Panel,” says a post on the Trello blog. “Saved filters let you instantly get the information you need in the view you want, whether it be a calendar of your work, a company project timeline or a panel of the company’s current workloads.”
Trello also made your cards smarter. There are three types of new cards: link, plaque and mirror. Link cards allow users to enter a URL in the title of a card and have it fill in relevant information, including views from YouTube, Google Drive, Instagram, Dropbox and other applications. Board cards allow users to leave a link to another Trello board in the title space, creating a direct link to that space. Mirror cards will arrive in the coming months, allowing users to clone a card on multiple cards.
The Trello logo, illustrations and standard sidebar also received a special shine. The sidebar is now organized by work area. So, get to work, guys.
