Transferring Avengers PS4 from Marvel to save to PS5 should be easier than that • Eurogamer.net

This week’s release of the next generation version of Marvel’s Avengers is good news for the game – but it shows the complicated process of transferring salvages from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.

Crystal Dynamics, Marvel Avengers developer tweeted detailed instructions to help confused customers after the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game came up had to be downloaded and fully updated for the saved transfer to work, and transferring the saved data via PlayStation Plus cloud storage was impossible.

Eurogamer news cast: did Square Enix do enough to save the Marvel Avengers?

Here’s what you have to do: First, you have to launch the fully corrected PS4 version of Marvel’s Avengers and go to the save migration tab in the main menu to start the upload.

Once the migration is complete, you need to start the PS5 version, where you will be prompted to download the data.

Here’s the annoying part: even if you have the PS4 and PS5 version of the game on the same console (for a total of 120 GB), the save migration is required to initialize the save on the PS5 version.

In addition, you need to download the latest update for the PS4 version in order to download the PS5 version. This means that if you are running the version of the PS4 game that has not been updated, you will not see the migration guide to save and will not be able to transfer the saved data.

The result is as follows: do not delete the PS4 version of Marvel’s Avengers before transferring your save to the PS5 version. After successfully importing your save to the PS5 version, you can safely delete the PS4 version from your console.

It’s a similar situation with some other PS4 / PS5 games, like Insomniac’s Spider-Man. “Just to be clear. You should use the PS4 game to export your save,” said Insomniac community director James Stevenson in November. “Remastered cannot be saved until it is exported by the PS4 game. This is the way.”

It’s a little uncomfortable with Remedy’s Control as well. Some games do not allow you to transfer saved files from PS4 to PS5.

Some players experienced problems with the Marvel Avengers PlayStation download transfer process when it aired because the migration guide did not appear – something recognized by Crystal Dynamics. The developer said this should now be resolved and apologized for the inconvenience.

“If for some reason you’re still having issues with the migration, let us know and we’ll look into the problem,” added the developer.

Obviously, saved transfers from Xbox One to Xbox Series X and S are automatic through Microsoft Smart Delivery.
