Mullens fell at the end of the season with an elbow injury. Initially believed that he would need Tommy John’s surgery, which would put his entire 2021 season at risk, he might be ready to go to the next season’s training ground after surgery, but not Tommy John’s surgery. However, whether he is on the 49ers list has yet to be confirmed.

Wilson has been a problem for the Cardinals for the past two seasons. In 2019, his touchdown gave the 49ers a victory and then his 183 yards run against them in Week 16 helped prevent the Cardinals from getting a victory that would put them in the postseason. Wilson, who was supposed to be a restricted free agent, agreed to a one-year contract to return in 2021.

The 49ers lost defensive coordinator Robert Saleh this offseason, as he is the new coach of the New York Jets. This led to some staff turnover. DeMeco Ryan is the new DC of the 49ers. They added a former defensive coordinator to the defensive team. Former Lions DC Cory Undlin will be the pass game specialist and secondary coach. They also named Butch Barry as an assistant offensive line coach after he was a senior analyst with the Green Bay Packers in 2020.
