Trailer of Judas and the Black Messiah

The first Judas and the Black Messiah trailer was probably the best movie trailer I saw in 2020 and immediately interested me in this film. Although this second trailer is not quite as good as the first, it is still very effective. The last trailer comes in the wake of the news that Judas and the Black Messiah was added to the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. It is also expected to be part of the conversation for the 2020-2021 award season (the film should not be released until February, but the Oscar postponed the qualifying dates to February 28 due release dates prevented by the coronavirus in 2020).

Inside Judas and the Black Messiah, “FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield) infiltrates the Illinois Black Panthers Party and is tasked with maintaining control over its charismatic leader, President Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya). A career thief, O’Neal reveals the danger of manipulating his comrades and his manipulator, Special Agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse PlemonsHampton’s political prowess increases when he falls in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson (Dominique Fishback) Meanwhile, a battle for O’Neal’s soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue Hampton and the Panthers by any means, such as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover (Martin Sheen) commands? (Side note: Sheen’s J. Edgar Hoover makeup in this trailer is a little unnerving.)

Shaka King directs a script with which he co-wrote Will Berson, based on a story by King, Berson and Kenny Lucas and Keith Lucas. The full cast includes Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Martin Sheen, Algee Smith, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Dominique Thorne, Amari Cheatom, Caleb Eberhardtand Lil Rel Howery.

Since Judas and the Black Messiah is a Warner Bros. film. which is part of the studio’s plans to launch its 2021 line-up directly to HBO Max the same day it hits theaters. Which means that when the film hits theaters in February 12th it will also be available on HBO Max for 31 days.
