Anyone old enough to remember will never forget Britney Spears’ epic meltdown in 2007 and 2008.

Spears shaving her head and attacking a car was the height of her collapse and led to the loss of custody of her children, being hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, then admitted to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center psychiatric wing and placed in 5150 detention psychiatric.

Then, at the age of 26, Spears was placed under guardianship controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, and her lawyer Andrew Wallet.

Almost 13 years later, she is still under that tutelage.

An upcoming documentary entitled Gifts from The New York Times: Framing Britney Spears takes a closer look at this controversial tutelage, his battles to break free from his father’s control and the fan-led and co-signed #FreeBritney movement by supporters including Cher, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus and the American Civil Liberties Union.

“She accepted that guardianship would happen, but she did not want her father to be a conservative,” said an interviewee in the first trailer for the documentary that appears below.

“When there is so much money to be made, you have to question everyone’s motives,” said another.

“Why is her father making all of her decisions? Why is she still in it? “asked another person.

We can take a guess, but it will be very interesting to see what the documentary reveals and discovers.

Framing Britney Spears debuts on FX and FX on Hulu on Friday, February 5th at 10 / 9c.
