The Trail Blazers left Snowy Portland on Saturday for their three-game trip. Prior to that exit, veteran striker Carmelo Anthony encountered a delay due to less than ideal road conditions. Thanks to Brad Showers, also a pilot and holder of the Blazers season ticket, Melo received the help needed to fly to Dallas.
After the ordeal, Showers spoke to AJ McCord of KOIN 6 about his meeting with Melo.
“We saw someone on the side of the road who was stuck,” recalled Showers. “Actually, I walked past him and I was like, ‘That was Carmelo Anthony!’ I literally stepped on the brakes, so I didn’t necessarily do a good Samaritan thing, but I couldn’t help thinking that that guy can’t be stuck on the side of the road. So, I did it the other way around and behold, Carmelo Anthony got a little stuck. “
Showers, who was on his way to defrost rental properties, interrupted his pre-planned schedule and gave the Blazers a hand. Melo, who has scored at least 20 points in five of the last six games, arrived on time for the Blazers ‘flight thanks to Showers’ assistance.
