Tracy Rocker reportedly going to Auburn

South Carolina football could lose a third coach to Auburn.

Last week, the South Carolina football team learned that offensive coordinator Mike Bobo would leave the Gamecocks team to assume the same role for SEC rival Auburn. The news came just a day after he signed an extension to stay in Columbia.

Bobo took offensive lineman Will Friend, who had only been in the job for two weeks.

Now, it looks like a third technical assistant from the South Carolina technical team could be referred to The Plains.

Reports are emerging that defensive line coach Tracy Rocker is planning to join the Auburn team.

Rocker has been with Gamecocks for just one season, after being hired by former coach Will Muschamp. Shane Beamer chose to retain the defensive line coach when assembling his new team in Columbia, but there was always some question as to whether Rocker was dedicated to Gamecocks or was openly looking for other opportunities.

Rocker was noted as having an interest in a number of NFL jobs as of last week.

There are also rumors that Rocker left the Carolina football facility without telling other members of the coaching staff, including Beamer.

With Rocker’s departure from the program, coach Shane Beamer has two spots on the team, one on the offensive line and one on the defensive line. Whoever the new coach is, he will have a lot of talent to work with, as the defensive front is South Carolina’s most profound and athletic position in the team.

Major contributors include former five-star recruits Jordan Burch and Zacch Pickens, sack getter leader JJ Enagbare, sophomores Tonka Hemingway and Alex Huntley and veterans Rick Sandidge, Jabari Ellis and Devontae Davis.
