Those awaiting the arrival of the third payment of the stimulus, which can begin to be deposited later this weekend, will soon be able to monitor their status on the website of the IRS.
Like the other two stimulus payments, you can track your status using the IRS’s Get My Payment tool. However, the tool is not yet available for payments under the American Rescue Plan (ARP), as the IRS needs time to review the law’s tax provisions.
Those with direct deposit set up with the IRS will receive their payments first. After these deposits, the IRS will send prepaid paper checks and debit cards to all other eligible individuals. The Get My Payment tool will tell users what kind of payment they can expect.
Users have reported problems using the tool in the past. The IRS said earlier that the system can become overwhelmed when many people use it. He also showed incorrect bank account information and deposit dates to some users during the disbursement of the second $ 600 payment earlier this year.
Previously, the IRS updated the tool once a day. If there is no update on the status of a payment, users can check back the next day.
When the tool goes online, it will not show the status of the first two stimulus payments. People who were eligible for this, but have not yet received one or both, will need to claim the Recovery Discount Credit on their 2020 tax returns.
