Toyota Mystery Car Revelation: Watch the Premiere Live

Great things are happening in Japan on Monday with Toyota and Subaru. For us who are in the United States, it means that we will have something this Sunday. Which is? We still don’t know for sure, but the joint announcement of the two Japanese automakers makes us believe in a new Toyota 86 sports car is near.

The two companies will present a jointly developed car on April 4 at 9pm. Specifically, Gazoo Racing will be running the show on the Toyota side of things, which is good evidence that this is a new sports car. We know that both companies are also working on an electric SUV, but it seems unlikely that the GR arm has a hand in this.

If we get a new 86, it will complement the 2022 Subaru BRZ, which we saw for the first time last year. We hope that the new 86 will revolve mainly with the BRZ once again, although we have heard a Toyota tip delay intended to draw more contrasts between the two. How different the two will be is yet to be seen.

Stay close and tune in at 9 pm Pacific time when the show starts in Japan.
