Tourists disappear on the trip to the famous hiking spot on the Dyatlov pass

A group of tourists disappeared in the roller coasters near the place where nine students died in mysterious circumstances more than six decades ago.

The eight Moscow hikers never returned on Wednesday after heading to Passo Dyatlov in the Ural region, Newsweek reported, citing Russian media.

“They were supposed to leave at 8:00 in the morning. But they have not yet returned and there is no contact with them, ”a local resident told local media E1.

Tourists had traveled to the area to pay homage to the victims who died there in February 1959, the resident told the outlet.

Russia attributed the mysterious death of the nine students to an avalanche and low visibility.

But his horrific injuries, which included fractures to the skull and broken ribs, led to conspiracy theories ranging from an animal attack to an attack by aliens.

In 2019, Russia reopened the investigation in an attempt to put speculation aside.

Andrey Kuryakov, deputy head of the regional prosecutor’s office, said the latest investigation confirmed that the group was hit by an avalanche and died of a freeze.
