Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea, Premier League: Post-game reaction; assessments

Chelsea positioned themselves in the same formation with which we finished against Burnley and started even better than in that game, completely dominating the game against Spurs, who, unexpectedly, was happy to defend and look for counterattacks.

Chelsea’s pressure paid off when Dier had a silly moment, went to the ground and knocked Werner down in a tangle of legs for a lost ball. Jorginho took a step forward and sought strength to score.

Chelsea’s only problem in the first half was that we didn’t score anymore, and Thiago Silva fell with an injury to his right leg just after the half-hour mark.

The Spurs left the range with much more intention and much more pressure and effort to attack. Chelsea played with fire a few times in the rear and wasted several excellent opportunities to increase our lead, but luckily we managed to keep the game clean and score three points.

Carefree.

  • Just a few changes in Burnley’s lineup, with Reece James starting his first game with Tuchel as a right back and Hudson-Odoi pushing over to play alongside Werner with Abraham falling on the bench.
  • Silva’s injury makes Christensen make his debut in Tuchel, scoring centrally in defense-three, as he used to do with Conte
  • Pulisic for Hudson-Odoi in attack and Kante for Kovacic in midfield complete the three alternates.
  • 7 points out of 9 for Tuchel, with all three sheets clean.
  • Chelsea moved up to 6th place, tied on points, with Everton in 7th and 3rd ahead of Spurs in 8th, who have two and one games less, respectively.
  • Next: Sheffield United out on Sunday
