Toronto Rapper Top5 accused of connection with murder in January

According to reports, the Toronto rapper Top5 was accused of connection with the murder of a 20-year-old man in late January.

Top5, whose real name is Hassan Ali, was charged with an accomplice in homicide after the fact for the murder of Hashim Omar Ali. Top5 was arrested on Saturday in Windsor, Ontario. He was also charged with two counts of non-compliance with parole, as well as three counts of drug possession for trafficking purposes.

Top5’s lawyer, John Silver, said the rapper maintains his innocence, but noted that “there is still a lot of information about this that we don’t know about.” Silver added: “At the moment, we are still waiting for basic information about this event and Mr. Ali’s involvement, if any,”

Authorities said Hashim Omar Ali was shot on January 31 while trying to enter a parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
