Tori Spelling blames the press for the April Fool’s pregnancy joke

Tori Spelling blamed the media on Friday for her April Fool’s pregnancy prank – which has been criticized by online commentators for being insensitive to couples who have lost babies or cannot have children.

“Every week, magazines and news outlets ask if I’m pregnant. To clarify, I’m not, ”she said in her lengthy explanation, which was posted on Instagram the day after Spelling received a harsh response for falsely announcing that she was expecting her sixth child.

“The fact is, after my fifth baby, my body has not recovered as before. It was then that the constant questions of ‘one more’ pregnancy began. ”

The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star added that if you are not under the “public eye”, it is difficult to understand what it is like to be embarrassed publicly.

“I feel like I have to constantly defend my body when, instead, I should honor it for the miracle of life that it has given me five times,” she continued.

Spelling, 47, was immediately criticized by commentators for his fake news about the baby.

“I hope it is not an April Fool’s joke, because it is very bad taste for those of us who have lost babies,” commented a follower.

“If this is a April Fool’s joke, you’re going to be so crazy,” observed another.

In her note, she added that she “would never knowingly mock at losing a child or not being able to carry him”, but simply wanted to “turn the tables” in the press.

“They constantly create wild and often painful stories about me, my body and my family,” she continued. “For those of you who are injured, I hear you. I love you. I welcome your stories and I will try my best to be there to support you. ”

While many people commented in support, others were not so friendly, with one person suggesting that she could have “punished” the press in a different way.

Her husband, Dean McDermott, replied, “And how do you suggest she do that, since you seem to be a PR expert?”

The couple is the father of daughters Stella and Hattie and sons Liam, Beau and Finn. McDermott is also a father to son, Jack, from a previous marriage.

After giving birth to her son Beau in 2017, Spelling said she would be “open” to have another baby.

“All my kids have their little peers, so I would be open to one more,” Spelling told People, adding with a laugh: “Hey, if people call you Brady Bunch, you have to complete Brady Bunch.”

She added: “I forgot how much I loved being pregnant. I love the connection. You are never alone.”
