In late July, the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to Kissimmee (Florida) Osceola 2023 defensive side Derrick Leblanc. Leblanc told Bucknuts that it was an offer that meant a lot to him and Ohio State was one of his best schools. Leblanc continued to maintain frequent contact with the Buckeyes.
“I talked to coach (Larry) Johnson yesterday,” said Leblanc. “He was telling me how everything is going. He said he’s doing well. I talk to him about twice a week. He can’t call me, so I call him. And I talk a little bit with Coach (Kerry) Coombs and Coach (Tony) Alford. These are the main people I talk to in Ohio. “
Leblanc has an impressive list of approximately 40 offers that, in addition to the state of Ohio, include Alabama, LSU, Georgia, the state of Florida, Miami, Auburn, Penn state, Notre Dame, USC, North Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
“I also talk to Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama about twice a week,” said Leblanc. “And USC. These are the main schools with which I talk a lot. “
Leblanc expects the dead period to end on April 15, and if it does, it probably won’t be long before he visits Ohio.
“I’m going to Ohio first,” said Leblanc. “So USC and then go to Texas. I want to visit Texas and Texas A&M. “
Leblanc, six feet and seven pounds, was a varsity rotating player when he was a freshman. He recorded three bags. He had a great second season, presenting tremendous numbers for a second year. In 11 games, Leblanc had 15 ½ sacks and 31 tackles for defeat, when Osceola went to the state championship game, although he lost that game.
