The fact that Khabib Nurmagomedov retired without defending the UFC lightweight title against Tony Ferguson is proof that Nurmagomedov dodged the fight, says longtime rival ‘El Cucuy’.
The clash has been canceled five times, but Ferguson insists that Khabib verbally beat and retired with a ’29 -1 ‘record.

Ferguson and Khabib are among the two biggest rivals who have never resolved their differences in the octagon. Their last fight was scheduled to take place at UFC 249 in 2020, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nurmagomedov was forced out of the fight due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19 and Ferguson continued the battle with Justin Gaethje for the provisional lightweight title, losing to TKO in the fifth round.
Ferguson followed with an unbalanced decision loss to Charles Oliveira, which led the UFC veteran to make some major training changes and seek out legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach. He will return to the Octagon to face the top ten lightweight Beneil Dariush at UFC 262 on May 15th.
