Tom Holland meets Russos for Cherry teaser

It has been almost two years since the arrival of Avengers: Endgame, the film that saw writers and directors Joe and Anthony Russo land – to widespread acclaim – the end of a story that they and many others had spent most of a decade, countless hours of human creativity and huge cauldrons of money saying. It was, by any measure, a top career achievement, which is probably a little worrying when you still want to, you know, continue to have a career.

Now, after a brief and extremely explainable break, the Russians are back, with Apple TV + today launching the first teaser of his first film since Endgame wrapped up, an adaptation of Nico Walker’s 2018 detective novel cherry. But although many of the Russian Style marks are apparently missing from the short (strangely truncated) clip – with no magic glove or Important Stone in sight – they do have a familiar face at their disposal. (And a slightly less familiar haircut.)

Yes, this is Tom Holland as a young man who signed up for the U.S. Army, a career choice that will presumably keep him in good health and standing – wait, no, hey, we just took a look at the book summary on Wikipedia, and I’m definitely not going. In any case, it is interesting as always to see Holland play against the guy (as he did last year with Antonio Campos’ The devil all the time.) Because of the provocation, it is a little difficult to set the tone of the film, but we will probably see more as the film’s release date in 2021 approaches.
