Tom Holland calls the next spider-man “the most ambitious stand-alone superhero film of all time”

Actor Tom Holland said Spider-Man MCU’s third film, currently untitled, is “the most ambitious stand-alone superhero film ever made” in an interview with Variety.

“I can say that it is the most ambitious autonomous superhero film ever made,” said Holland on the Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast. “You sit down, read the script and see what they are trying to do and are succeeding. really impressive. I’ve never seen an independent superhero movie like this. And I’m just, you know … that lucky little shit who happens to be Spider-Man in it. We have a lot more footage to do. We started before Christmas and shot for about seven weeks. We stop for Christmas holidays and then we will start again. I’m as excited as anyone to see, let alone be a part of it. “

Holland’s comment seems to reinforce the theories that Spider-Man 3 is creating some kind of multi-verse plot (spider verse?) With actors from different cinematic incarnations of the franchise. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the two previous Spider-Man actors, will appear, along with Kirsten Dunst’s Mary-Jane, although Disney and Marvel have refused to confirm the rumors about the cast. The sequel is also confirmed to star Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch, with Alfred Molina expected to reprise his role as Spider-Man 2 (2004) as Doctor Octopus, and Jamie Foxx returning as Electro (for Amazing Spider-Man 2).

Daredevil Charlie Cox is also rumored to have joined the cast of Spider-Man 3, having been spotted on set, but the news has not been confirmed.

Holland says that the filming of Spider-Man 3 was interrupted during the winter holidays, but will resume in the near future.
