There is no crying in baseball. There is also no crying in football. At least not until I win a Super Bowl.

Appearing in All Things Covered Podcast with Bryant McFadden and Patrick Peterson, Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David told a story from the Tampa Bay locker room after the NFC championship victory over the Packers.

“When I realized it was real, when I realized it was like everything else, it doesn’t really matter, unless the Super Bowl was like after we won the NFC championship,” said David. “You know me, I was all happy and shit, it was my first. I’m a geek. So, I think someone was crying. And I think like, I heard [Brady], As, ‘Why the hell are you crying? We are not done yet. ‘”

The comment caught David’s attention.

“He’s right,” said David. “He’s right. You know, I had some tears too. So I cleaned my sh-t too…. We still have work to do.”

This is a tangible example of the intangible value of having Brady in the locker room. It is leadership. It is responsibility. It is ensuring that no one is satisfied with anything but reaching the top of the mountain.

It is one of the reasons why it will be very difficult to choose against Buccaneers in the Super Bowl LV, no matter how good the Chiefs are today. And they are.
