Simply defeating the Washington Football Team would be impressive, but it matches the fact that the Bucs haven’t even made an appearance in the playoffs since 2007 and that adds a little more weight.
“Come on, this is Tom Brady,” Bucs racer Leonard Fournette said after Saturday’s game. “I don’t need to think about it too much. This is the boy. … We have faith in him. We will protect him from everything to ensure that he gets that move. So this is our job.”
Brady completed an impressive 22 of 40 passes for 381 yards and was responsible for two touchdowns.
Still, Brady couldn’t do that without his teammates. Wide receiver Mike Evans led the team with six receptions for 119 yards, and he did so after a questionable start.
“Mike threw it away,” Brady told the media after the game. “He got hurt last week. We weren’t sure if he would go or not. (He) just did an incredible job of fighting and made a lot of great plays when we needed them.”
The Buccaneers’ next opponent will be decided on Sunday. They will receive the Rams or face the saints in New Orleans.
“It’s huge,” said coach Bruce Arians at his news conference. “I just wish we could play at home, but we can’t, unless certain things fall. And then I wish the stadium was packed.”
