Tom Brady, Gronk jokes about retirement in Super Bowl commercial

Gronk and Tom Brady are clashing – in a peculiar new Super Bowl 2021 commercial.

The two former New England Patriots teammates, who now play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, appeared in a T-Mobile ad that debuted on Friday before Sunday’s big game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the commercial, which takes place last year, Brady, 43, calls his friend to ask what his next move should be – after two decades in the game and six Super Bowl rings on his fingers.

“I have a word for you: retirement,” a former retiree Rob Gronkowski, 31, said to Brady as he set up a sunny golf course. “If you retire now, you will be walking on soft sand in a week. Retirement is like winning another one! Maybe I’ll even join you. ”

Except that is not what Brady heard, not thanks to his “irregular network”, says a narration.

“If you retire now, you will be weak and weak,” the distorted feed screams. “Come to Florida and get another one.”

“As if it were easy, Gronk,” Brady says to himself after the call. Fast forward to this year and the rest is history. “I’ll take Gronk with me,” promises Brady at a fake press conference at the end of the ad.

So that’s how the two ended up in Tampa. Perhaps irregular networks are not such a bad thing, after all.

Brady-Gronk’s joke is just one of the Super Bowl 2021 commercials released before Sunday’s big game, which starts at 6:30 pm on CBS. Another great football player, Joe Montana, also appeared in a Guinness ad, while a great different guy from John Travolta and his daughter Ella relived Travolta’s “Grease” moves in an now viral ad from Scotts & Miracle Gro.
