Being a film buff, Walter Chiapponi entrusted the Italian heartthrob Lorenzo Zurzolo, from Netflix baby fame to star in the video of the Tod’s Fall collection, presented digitally today. The young actor was also photographed in the lookbook, which was filmed at Villa Ronchi, designed in the 1930s by Italian architect Giuseppe De Finetti, located in the foggy and peaceful countryside of the Lombardy region in northern Italy.
In the short film, entitled #sevenT (“Seven days a week, T de Tod, but also de Tempo”, explained Chiapponi), the actor retires to the solitude of the villa to prepare for a role. “Cinema is one of my greatest passions,” said Chiapponi. “I wanted a strong and confident personality to express what I wanted to say. And it seemed appropriate for the moment when we are living to work around the idea of loneliness – but it was intended to be an opportunity for introspection and self-discovery. “
The designer believes in the restorative beauty of nature and a cultivated lifestyle that embraces its healing power – concepts that served as a kind of backbone for the collection. Featuring classic outdoor pieces, it was infused with the talent of a country gentleman for practicality and comfort. Sensuality and a touch of romance were also introduced; Chiapponi played with tactile, flexible and soft fabrications – cashmere, tweed, corduroy, knitted textures. Lightly padded hunting and field jackets were kept thin but relaxed. Tailoring maintained an elegant fascination while being treated easily. Everything was subtly energized by a youthful ’70s vibe.
What Chiapponi is bringing to Tod’s is a compelling update from casual Italian troops, seen through a modern cultivated and slightly emotional filter: “I don’t like anything oversized, neither too cold nor too acute,” he said. “I want something moving, a bit eccentric, it’s free.”
