We were all amazed at the wonder of Microsoft Flight Simulator last year, but one of the intrusive thoughts that often comes up flying a huge passenger jet over the ocean is, “What happens if everything goes wrong?” Don’t ask yourself anymore, because today’s free PC game from the Epic Games Store is Stranded Deep.
Stranded Deep is a survival game that starts with a plane crashing in the Pacific Ocean. This is bad news for you, who, as a passenger, probably expected to land somewhere on land, preferably at an airport. Instead, you need to get on a lifeboat, fend off sharks, and eventually make your way to a desert island. Here you will have a lot to do while waiting for the rescue: build a shelter, explore the surrounding areas, build gyrocopters and take the fight back to those uncomfortable sea creatures that have caused you problems before.
Stranded Deep has been in early access since 2015 on Steam, where it maintains a solid ‘Most Positive’ review rating. Now it’s arrived at the Epic Games Store, and you can skip to the free Early Access version in the next 24 hours.
Here is the trailer:

Developer Beam Team Games says he hopes to take Stranded Deep out of Early Access in the next 12 months, and you can expect regular monthly updates until the release date. Once you leave early access, the price will increase to “reflect the additional content added during development”.
Go to Epic to redeem your free copy of Stranded Deep. The wrapping paper for tomorrow’s Mystery Game includes a scary three-fingered hand, which is the only clue we have about what the next gift will be.
