NBC’s Today The show paid tribute this morning to Katherine Creag, the WNBC affiliate reporter in New York who died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday at the age of 47. Watch the segment below.
Today news anchor Craig Melvin remembers Creag as “a great mother, a great friend and a good canine reporter”.
Introducing the segment, Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie said: “All of us around here are really heartbroken. Kat was part of our big family here at NBC, and a beloved presence at our local WNBC station. “
Darlene Rodriguez, WNBC anchor, visiting the Today set to share memories and a video montage of Creag’s memorable morning reports, he said: “Kat was a light. She had a very special spirit and energy. She entered your space, you were immediately elevated because, no matter what, she was always in a good mood. “
Creag’s death was announced by WNBC yesterday. The reporter had shown up that morning at Today in New York morning show, and I hadn’t been sick.
Rodriguez said about Today this morning that the cause of death has not yet been disclosed. “We don’t know yet,” said Rodriguez, adding that “the family will decide what they want to discuss.”
Creag leaves her husband Bill Gafner and sons Jack, Gemma and Josie.
