Today mild, rain and snow following

Today: It will be another pleasant day to spend outdoors! Expect partly cloudy skies, southeast wind at 5-10 mph. High temperatures will be between 50 and 50 years.

Tonight: Clouds will increase before the next system. The winds will be out of the ENE direction at about 5-10 mph. The low temperatures will be in the 30s.

Sunday: On Sunday, it’s going to be a wet and humid day across eastern Iowa. The rain will fall on Sunday morning and will last most of the day. Some sites could see almost an inch of rain. Strong east winds will be around 15-30 mph, with gusts of 35-40 mph possible. The high temperatures will be slightly colder and in the mid-40s at around 50 degrees.

A winter storm clock is in effect from 9 pm on Sunday to noon on Monday.

Sunday night: Rain will continue overnight on Sunday, before the transition to snow / mixing after midnight. Snow can be heavy at times. The low temperatures will be in their 20s, with gusts of wind continuing.

Monday: Snow will fall on its morning path, which will cause delays. A wintry mix will be possible in our southernmost counties, with a small chance of a light enamel. Reserve extra time for the trip and be prepared for slippery road conditions. Strong winds from the east will cause snow to blow, reducing visibility. The high temperatures will be in the 30s. The snow will end at dusk. Snow accumulation seems very possible in our northwest, west and central counties. Models are still at odds over the exact amount of snow and where.

This week: The lowest temperatures remain during the first half of the workweek, with another possible mix for St. Patrick’s Day and Thursday. Temperatures will rise to 50 next weekend.
