The next entry in the Call of Duty franchise will take place during World War II, and the game is tentatively titled “World War II: Vanguard. “According to sources at Modern Warzone, the game will also have an impact on Call to action: War zone, and will see weapons and assets shared with the title in a similar way to Black Ops Cold War. Last month, Modern Warzone reported that Call of Duty 2021 is in development from Sledgehammer Games, which would be appropriate, as the developer previously worked Call of Duty: World War II. Obviously, the team has some experience with the setup!
Modern Warzone seems confident in its origin, but the article reporting these details also mentions that earlier rumors pointed to a 1950s scenario for the next Call of Duty. Since the Second World War ended in 1945, that would not make a lot of sense! Modern Warzone speculates that Second World War: Vanguard it could be defined in an alternative timeline, where the war dragged on for longer. In the opinion of this writer, it is also possible Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard it may be a game that deals specifically with events directly after the war, such as dishonest Axis forces. Unfortunately, it’s all just guesswork, right now!
Interestingly enough, World War II: Vanguard it is not the only new Call of Duty game that could be in development. A prominent Call of Duty hijacker also suggested that a stand-alone Call of Duty: Zombies game may be in the works by Activision. More details are very scarce at the moment, including which team may be developing the game. If right, Call of Duty fans can have a lot more content to enjoy in the future!
For now, readers are advised to accept these reports with caution until Activision makes some kind of official announcement. Sources sometimes get incorrect information and plans can often change during development. Black Ops Cold War released a few months ago, so it will probably take a little more time before the publisher reveals something concrete about its next Call of Duty game.
