Times Square, a ghost town on New Year’s Eve

It’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve like you’ve never seen it before.

As the final hours of 2020 passed, the NYPD blocked public access to a place known around the world for its crowded New Year celebrations.

AN live video feed The Reuters area showed only a handful of people circling – instead of the thousands who usually gather to watch the ball launch at midnight.

For the first time in 114 years, the New Year’s Eve show in Times Square will be held without a live audience.

Instead, a star-studded celebration featuring performances by Jennifer Lopez, Cyndi Lauper and others will be televised from the site to viewers at home.
