Tim Scott criticizes Biden, Democrats, for obstructionist flop-flop: they shout ‘racist whenever they want to scare you’

Senator Tim Scott, RS.C., criticized President Biden and Congressional Democrats on Friday for changing his view of the Senate obstruction rule, telling Fox News Primetime that they are invoking racism to scare republicans.

Scott told host Brian Kilmeade that it was “frustrating and irritating” to see Democrats use the obstruction last year to block a police reform project he proposed and said it would have disproportionately helped the black community.

“Here’s what we know about the Democrats,” said Scott. “They were in favor of the obstruction before they were against the obstruction. I keep asking myself, ‘The real Chuck Schumer, please, get up?’ Is it the one who was in favor of the obstruction or is it the new one that is now against the obstruction? “

Scott added that Democrats “use the word ‘racist’ whenever they are trying to scare people. It has nothing to do with race. But they don’t care. Winning at all costs means losing at some point.”

KEMP INSISTS ELECTORAL REFORM PROJECT FOR CONTROVERSIAL GEORGIA ‘EXPANDING THE VOTING RIGHT’

Turning to the House Democrats’ huge electoral reform bill, The For The People Act, Scott said that “every part” of the measure “is designed to hold power at all costs … even if they have to do unethical things “.

“[H.R. 1] eliminates all voter identification laws. They will allow the collection of votes to become the law of the country, “he said.” Legalized vote collection, taxpayer-funded campaigns and the banning of state voter identification laws should be a big and loud ‘fraud alert’ “.

If the legislative obstruction is lifted, Democrats can approve HR 1, as long as there are no defections. Vice President Kamala Harris could break a 50-50 tie in favor of the Democrats; assuming no republican side with the majority.

Scott also argued that Biden was wrong in calling Georgia’s new electoral law racist, noting that, in North Carolina, a voter identification law actually increased black participation in recent elections.

“So, if you want to know if things have an impact or not, let’s look at the numbers. They are not studying the numbers, ”he said. “They are literally on the prowl for a liberal takeover of everything and then codifying it permanently, bringing in new states that have the overwhelming Democratic approach to governing.”
