Tim McGraw, Tyler Hubbard Bring ‘Undivided’ to Biden Inauguration

Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard brought their message of unity to American television on Wednesday night (January 20). The duo performed “Undivided” during Celebrating America, a 90-minute special featuring a crowd of celebrities eager to celebrate President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Tom Hanks presented a special that also featured performances by Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi and Demi Lovato. “Undivided” was written by Hubbard, half of the country duo Florida Georgia Line. He wrote the song on his tour bus while it was standing in his garage, quarantined away from his family while battling COVID-19 last fall. Talking to CBS this morning, Hubbard said he had the previous 12 months in mind at the time he wrote the song.

“I didn’t think we could need it more than we did last year, but apparently we still do,” noted Hubbard. Find the song in his next deluxe version of McGraw Here on earth album, expected this spring.

The two men were wrapped up in the cold of Nashville on the east side of the Cumberland River, with familiar Music City skyscrapers flanking them as they spoke – and then sang a song that they both say is a kind of mirror of – divisive times. “Undivided” echoes the message of the day, something both men recognized during a brief introduction.

“This song is a message of unity and faith and it touched my soul,” McGraw shared, with Hubbard to his right and most of his band around him for the evening performance.

“I think it’s time to come together / You and I can make a change / Maybe we can make a difference / Make the world a better place / Look around and love someone / We’ve been hating long enough / Let the good God come together us / Until this country we love is indivisible. “

Earlier in the day, Garth Brooks performed during the inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, joining a list of artists that included Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga, sang the National Anthem at the inauguration ceremony.
