Tim Cook mourns ‘sad and shameful’ day, says ‘we must complete the transition’ to the Biden government

Apple CEO Tim Cook became one of the first technology executives to give an opinion on the events that took place in Washington DC today. After a crowd of Trump supporters storming the Capitol this afternoon, Cook is calling “those responsible for this insurrection to be held responsible.”

The Apple CEO, who had a tense and sometimes friendly relationship with Trump, said that today “marks a sad and shameful chapter” in the history of the United States. In calling for those responsible to be held accountable, Cook also said that “we must complete the transition” for President-elect Biden’s next administration.

Cook wrote in Twitter:

“Today marks a sad and shameful chapter in the history of our nation. Those responsible for this insurrection must be held accountable and we must complete the transition to the administration of President-elect Biden. It is especially when they are challenged that our ideals are most important. “

The relationship between Cook and Trump has been interesting to follow for the past four years. The Apple CEO has long stated his belief that it is much better to be involved in the conversation, especially when you disagree, than to be left out.

In addition to Cook’s comment, Twitter is blocking President Trump’s account for 12 hours. The company says Trump must remove three tweets that contained “repeated and serious violations” of its civic integrity policy. If Trump does not remove the three tweets in question, the account will remain blocked.

In addition, Twitter says Trump’s “future violations of Twitter rules” will result in his account being permanently suspended. O Twitter security account tweeted the following statement.

“As a result of the unprecedented and continuing violent situation in Washington, DC, we demanded the removal of three @realDonaldTrump tweets that were posted today for serious and repeated violations of our Civic Integrity policy. This means that the @realDonaldTrump account will be blocked for 12 hours after removing these Tweets. If Tweets are not removed, the account will remain blocked. Future violations of the Twitter Rules, including our Civic Integrity or Violent Threats policies, will result in the permanent suspension of the @realDonaldTrump account. “

Finally, Facebook also took action against President Trump’s account after today’s events. As first reported by Mike Issac, Facebook is blocking Trump from posting for 24 hours. A company spokesman explained that there were two policy violations against the Trump page:

“We assessed two policy violations against President Trump’s page, which will result in a 24-hour resource block, which means that he will lose the ability to post on the platform during that time,” the spokesman told Issac.
