LSU returns to action at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, when the Tigers will again host Nicholls at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

“It was a long day today, but a good day,” said the LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “We had a very exciting win in the first game, and you are always concerned about disappointment after a game like this, but we came out as gangbusters in the second game. Landon Marceaux we set the tone and launched excellent all night, and hit some home runs that gave us an early lead against a pitcher who beat us last year.

“With the prevailing wind, there was more hitting environment here today, and we took advantage of that. I really like the way the middle of our order is shaping up now, (player on the right) Dylan Crews it’s an intimidating force at the top of the lineup and our hitters are swinging with a lot of confidence. “

Marceaux (1-0) worked six starts against the colonels, not allowing runs in two strikes without walks and 10 eliminations.

Nicholls starter Tyler Theriot (0-1) was accused of defeat by yielding six runs in six strokes with three strokes and three eliminations in 3.1 entries.

The exclusion was LSU’s first since the 2-0 win over southern Alabama on April 3, 2019.
