Tigers designate Troy Stokes Jr.

Tigers designated outfielder Troy Stokes Jr. for assignment, The Athletic’s Cody Stavenhagen reports. The change creates space in the 40-man squad for the outfielder Robbie Grossman, which the Tigers signed on Tuesday.

Stokes was a fourth-round pick of 2014 for the Brewers who remained with the organization until it lost it through exemptions to the Tigers in September 2019. He ended his career in the Brewers’ secondary league system as 0.250 / .351 / .411 hitter with 57 home runs and 129 bases stolen in 2,355 plate appearances. Stokes made his Triple-A debut in 2019 and hit 0.233 / .341 / .385 with nine homers and 14 steals in 381 PA. He still has two options remaining in the secondary league.
