Tiger Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles

Tiger Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a single vehicle accident on Tuesday that left him with serious leg injuries, according to statement released Thursday.

Dr. Anish Mahajan said Woods, 45, was transferred from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which is located about 18 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, “to continue orthopedic treatment and recovery.”

Woods was transferred on Wednesday night, two sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. Cedars-Sinai is approximately 21 miles north of Harbor-UCLA.

On Tuesday, Mahajan said Woods suffered multiple “open fractures” in his right leg and had a nail placed on his tibia and screws and pins inserted into his foot and ankle during emergency surgery.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said on Wednesday that his department would not file charges against Woods related to the accident near the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, about 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. .

Villanueva said the department is considering an accident, which could lead to a maximum misdemeanor.

“He was not drunk,” said Villanueva. “We can throw this out.”

Woods’ fellow golfers continued to react to the crash on Thursday, including Phil Mickelson, who said players “understand and appreciate what he meant for golf and for us and the PGA Tour”.

“We are all waiting and praying for a complete and quick recovery, but we are also grateful, because it looked horrible, and we are grateful that he is still with us,” said Mickelson of the Cologuard Classic, a Champions Tour event in Tucson.

ESPN’s Bob Harig and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
